I was stunned by the piece on the jailing of the mentally ill. I had no idea this situation prevails. Isn't mental illness or insanity an argument for being found not guilty in court? Good lord, no wonder we have the highest rate of incarceration in the world!
I know Mimi. But jail is more macho, and for years all politicians have feared being accused of being soft on crime, and of course there are no signs that is changing.
