1973 vs. 2011

Did you know the White House has a Youtube channel? Well, they do.
(via Firedoglake)
"The President speaks to a bi-partisan group of college students March 8th 2011"

And, from a White House press conference, November 17, 1973

Dead Horse blog post number 555. In which your host taxes the patience of the kindly and long-suffering audience, persisting in his juvenile and irrelevant comparisons between one Barack Obama and Richard Nixon.

Not juvenile!

The present era's clusterfuck originates in the Johnson/Nixon Vietnam clusterfuck.

Nixon laid the groundwork for our shift to highly financed "medical care" and the beginning of HMOs.

His Admin began the "service economy" shift in America.

And Obama is the most hawkish, Wall Street-whorish POTUS in the past 100 yrs or so.

If average Americans were as pissed today as they were during Vietnam --pissed off at the Fed Govt and the POTUS and the Congres, I mean... pissed off in a bipartisan way-- Obama would be fully impeached and giving an "I am not a crook, I'm a merit-baby community organizer and law professor with a cool exotic name and a progressive CV!

It’s interesting to listen to Obama go through what must be his personal rationalization that allows him to live with himself. The words honorable and principled came up fairly often it seemed like, and so it sounds like he hasn’t quite convinced himself that his actions are somehow principled and honorable which of course they are not. Obama worships at the church of Wall Street, not exactly a cesspool of honor and principles.

Thanks, KFO.

Rob, that's an interesting question. Presumably BHO doesn't have GWB's born-again overlay on his ruminations to convince himself he's doing God's work.* I'm suddenly reminded of how we heard stories about Bush senior's trouble sleeping.

*A somewhat related question: what does Reverend Wright think of BHO's presidency?
