Just wait till they destroy Social Security. We could move to a deserted island and could either declare war against the U.S., or, we could have a revolution and the U.S. government would support us for the rest of our lives!

That's crazy talk. Don't you want to have your own indoor pool?

Yes, I had one of those once in one of my California mansions. I sold the house to a retired sea captain who removed the roof so that he could place a small yacht in the indoor swimming pool. He said it was perfect as there wasn’t any chance that he could get seasick. Afterwards he replaced the roof so he wouldn’t get wet.

And here I thought most home owner's associations frowned on that sort of thing. Silly me.

All too true about the implied "work 'til you drop" future for older people. If it wasn't for the generosity of my children, I would never be able to enjoy my nice house, trips to Asia, the leisure to be in a theatre group. In a few years, there's NO WAY the average person is going to be able to achieve a decent retirement. Sorry about that, kids.

I agree with all that, Mimi. It will be a tragedy when Obama destroys Social Security. Life is going to be very hard for a lot of people because of Obama.

Rob,

I'm amused by your story.

I once remember overhearing a long discussion between two of my uncles on how they wanted to build a pool as big as a backyard, put fish and a boat in it and then go fishing.
